Young Funk Sung has teamed up with Mountain State Brewing Company and Matt Lambert to benefit the Mountaintop Public Library THIS Saturday 5/28! In the immortal words of my good friend MountainState Kate, "It is time to stop making jokes about our library being in a trailer and do something about it!" So get ready to come out and party for a cause---IPA, T&A, YFS for the MTPL! The $10 cover goes to the Mountaintop Public Library to fund programs and facilities. Drinking for books, sounds like a good enough excuse to me :)
The party at Mountain State starts at 7:00 with a kickin' set from our good friend Doc Lambert. Followed by Young Funk Sung (we'll probably hit the stage around 9:00ish...but we'll leave that loose)
So stop playing coy and RSVP to our Facebook Event already.
There is a ton happening in Tucker County this weekend, and more particularly in Davis & Thomas. The Library also has a few fundraising efforts happening at the Davis fire station in the afternoon, so be sure to stop by there to grab a few raffle tickets and check out the items in the silent auction.
Be sure to run across the street to HypnoCoffee for a macchiato so good it will make you weep (and say hey to our good friends Carrie, Cade, Maggie, etc.)
Later in the afternoon/early evening, stop by The White Room Gallery for their annual Memorial Day wine & cheese party. Dress is excessively fancy, and this year the featured artist is Thomas' own Nathan Baker, who's metal "attack art" sculptures are pretty damn badass. Seth and I want to commission a chandelier for our new house!
On top of all this, my awesome sister and brother-in-law will be in. I got them a room at Tucker County's five star resort & spa, the Tally-Ho. I tried to tell them that they should just stay at the Fiddle Hostel with us, however I know that the high probability of a late night obnoxiously drunk pool game/shit talking fest mean that it is probably for the best (she really likes her sleep.) Anyways, they're awesome, and will be hanging with us for the weekend. They live in Brooklyn, so let's show 'em how we party in the WV (more specifically, in the TC).
If you were at last year's memorial day show, you may remember a few things...there was a lot of beer consumed, Ian wore a crazy blouse from the ladies department picked out by our good friend slim$ ("why are the buttons on the wrong side?") , but perhaps most of all...Rob totaled his horn in an epic "neck strap malfunction" incident involving a bad plastic strap, a wobbly step ladder and the concrete floor of the brew pub. Rob might just be hard on neck straps: he recently broke two at a festival in North Carolina. In related news, he recently celebrated a birthday. Convinced that any commercial neck strap wouldn't support the lifestyle and playing intensity of Rob Masten, Seth created a neck strap built to handle rough treatment out of chain link, carabeaners, and seatbelt covers. It's straight thug, and it will make its debut at MSBC on 5/28.

NEW YEAR'S EVE at EL GRAN SABOR!
Had a great NYE at EGS! New Year's gigs can always be a bit awkward if they're not done right---all the drunken amateurs come out, there is that awkward break at midnight just when everything feels like it's gaining momentum, but El Gran just does it easy and right- friends, drinks, and a completely righteous party.
Seeing as it was New Year's Eve, I decided to go classy, so I dressed like a high-class escort as opposed to a common bachelor party stripper. Ha ha, I kid, but in my sophisticated dressing I wanted to feature the awesome necklace Seth got me for Christmas, it was hand crafted by Miss Connie out of two necklaces owned by a former First Lady of WV, Edna Hall Scott Kump. In face we all went a bit classy, Bo rocked a sweet red silk ascot.
Lots of martinis, IPA, T&A, and general awesomeness went into the making of these videos. Ch-ch-check 'em out.
"I'll Go Crazy"
"Pick it up/Lay it in the Cut"
Nucilli takes home the game ball...fer'real. This is probably my favorite of our recently-added tunes. It's a Betty Davis song. Definitely google her: badass funk goddess...married to Miles for a bit in the 70's...rumor has it she also did Hendrix...very nice ;) Footage by Captain T.
"Groove is in the Heart" (Footage by Captain T)
"Express Yourself" (Footage by Captain T)
"Cosmic Slop" (footage by Captain T)
