I love the buildup to Young Funk Sung Halloween gigs. Always makes me feel like I'm on some sort of messed version of Project Runway where instead of creating an evening gown for some B-List celebrity I have to create thoroughly random costumes that I hope don't fall apart onstage. Good times.
Halloween Part 1 took place at El Gran Sabor...good crowd, good times...it served as a nice warm up for the main event, (i.e. Halloween part 2: electric bugaloo) the always epic halloween party at Mountain State Brewing Company in Thomas.
I always love driving up to gigs on the Mountain, specifically because it gives us an excuse to go kill time up in Davis and Thomas, shoot the shit, eat a burrito the size of my head and set up our equipment with leisure. We checked into our room at the Purple Fiddle (Thx, Deana!) and headed over to Mountain State for sound check. After, everyone headed up to Hellbender Burritos for some beer and some pre-gig grub and watch the cute trick-or-treaters. (ps: Rob of Hellbenders gives out king-size candy bars for trick or treaters!! Something to remember for next year, parents of Davis/Thomas)
After dinner, we headed back to the Purple Fiddle to change. We love staying at the Purple Fiddle Hostel when we're up on the mountain. Sharing the big 5-bed band rooms is always reminiscent of childhood slumber parties in the fact that you lay it the dark talking, laugh when someone inevitably farts in their sleep, and so on. Add copious amounts of beer, and you're in for a ridiculous good time. Rob and Bo rode up with our trusty road manager, Captain T, and everyone else either drove themselves or lives on the mountain, so this trip saw the communal bunk room hosting only Seth and I, Ian, and his fabulous girlfriend Carin. We changed into our rad Star Wars costumes and hung out until it was time to head over for the show.
What an awesome night! We always have the best time at the pub. Thanks to everyone who made it happen, and the pub for accommodating our madness. Check out all the photos here, but here are a few of my favs.

After the show we headed back to the Purple Fiddle for some more beer drinking and shit-talking (two things we're extra good at.) I'm pretty sure "Girls, Guns and Glory" the band that played the Purple Fiddle and were also crashing at the Hostel that night, think that we're drunks and assholes. We're not. We just come on a little strong with the shit talking...Sorry guys, we're really nice people, just nice people who like to get drunk and raise hell. I swear (we love everyone, even mandolin players!)
Again, Thanks to everyone who was there for the show and everyone!

I agree. Thomas/Davis is one of the most special places I've been to. I drive well over 100 miles when I play there and it NEVER disappoints.
